HC dismisses bail plea of school HM2

21.8.2015 (UNI) Equating a 50-year-old government school Head Master (HM) acting as dushasana (who disrobed Draupadi in Tamil epic Mahabharat), towards girl students and acting as Duriyodhana towards male students, the Madras High refused to grant bail to him following sexual harassment charges.
The Head Master, Mariya Louis, was arrested for sexually harassing a tenth standard girl student at Kangeyam in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu, about 450 km from here.
The charges against him was that he had sexually harassed the girl, who discontinued her studies due to her family's poor financial situation, while taking special tuition classes for her last month.
After the girl attempted self-immolation, police registered a case and arrested him, following which he approached the High Court seeking bail.
When the bail petition filed by the HM came up for hearing, Mr Justice S Vaidyanathan dismissed the petition saying, going by the facts, it was clear that the HM had acted as Duriyodhana by receiving apology letters from students and parents for the wrong acts done by male students and as dushasana towards female students.

Dismissing the petitioner's contention that the charges against him were false, Louis, the judge said records clearly showed that the HM's misbehaviour with the girl was the main reason for her suicide attempt, which was, however, thwarted by her brother, besides statements were given by the students and teachers of the school against him.
